What Is an Apron Sink?

When decorating a kitchen it’s important to make sure that you get the right sink. That means buying one that’s the right size and shape as well as one that matches the rest of the kitchen’s design. An example of a popular type of sink is the apron sink and in this article I’ll be going into more detail about what they are and how to buy one.

Apron sinks are kitchen sinks that usually have a traditional and rural design. They’re often used in farmhouses and other houses in the countryside. The reason that this type of sink became popular in rural areas is because they have a deeper basin to allow the user to clean a large number of plates, pots and cutlery at the same time.

Apron sinks tend to be much simpler in design compared to modern types of sinks but they can also be very practical. If you have a big family then a large sink may be a good way to make washing up after meals easier. You can also buy apron sinks that are decorated with an image or pattern. Another consideration is whether you want to get a sink that has one or two basins. Two basins can make cleaning multiple items whilst cooking or doing something else easier but also cuts down on the amount of space you have when washing up.

If you’re buying a new sink for a traditional kitchen then an apron sink is definitely something to consider. They can be expensive though – some of the more sought after models and designs can cost thousands of dollars although there are also simple designs that are cheaper than this. Remember to take into account the cost of plumbing because this can add a large cost to the price of buying a new sink.
